Pragati Firefox Browser

Lots of things happened; the world turned a lot many times in the past few months of which I have not been able to bring some good stuff in this journal.

Well not to worry guys here I come again, but probably just to disappoint you guys a bit. This time it’s nothing new but an annexure to the might of Mozilla with the upsurge of NET 2.0 and Firefox 3.0.

Its all about the customizability of Mozilla due to the technological feats achieved and mentioned above. It’s about this cool browser I came across which has been customized from Firefox to be in Hindi!!

PRAGATI is the name! Pragati has every in built menu in Hindi and also has this cool widget which allows you to scroll, type (obviously in Hindi you mambos!), and a certain feature that allow you to view (in certain ways) the translated (no guarantee) version of a word you hover above.

I liked the browser for only one reason; because it has this inbuilt Hindi dictionary and spell check. Rest all is same as Firefox; tabbed browser and all (although you have to force open sites in tabbed one coz they open in a separate window by default). But still I must admit the best part is the menu names given!!!

But lots of dislikes; I mean lots. The widget may irritate you as it never seems to disappear, blocking you text view; the translations also pop up unexpectedly and block the content. It all becomes clumsy and of course it’s strictly for those who know their Hindi well. But I do feel good that at least efforts are been made towards this direction too. Think about the near future when we can get the might Firefox in all of the major and minor languages and even dialects (bhojpuri anyone!). Shining India at last!

Kudos guys keep browsing.
